South Salmara College is in the district of Dhubri, (now South Salmara ) Assam was started, forming a Sponsoring Body in a general meeting held on 5th of December 1986. South Salmara is a remote area of western Assam. The college was situated in South Salmara Bazar an old historical place from the British era. The mighty Brahmaputra in the western site and the tributary river Zingiram in the eastern site.

South South Salmara College stands by 33 years and i am very pleasure that our mission has been succeeded by getting this institution of Higher Education in provincialised stage. The month of December,1986,the people with leading persons gathered and formed a sponsoring body for establishing a Arts Degree College which was named South Samara College. The body of the college laboured for procuring requisite lands and funds by public donations of the area. As a result 45 bighas lands were donated by the people and the college was started.
